Ian Robertson - Looking Back, Pot Pourri, Stamping Ground, News Bites, etc.

The Consulting Editor has a history of philately and journalism. Beginning collecting a mixed interest of stamps as a boy, Robertson started writing about stamps in the 1960s in a Boy Scout magazine he published. He then moved on to weekend features in the mid to late '70s in the Kingston-Whig-Standard. He is now a full-time journalist in Toronto. Robertson has been writing for Canadian Stamp News since 1987.

Now collecting mint and used Canadian; Great Britain; postal history of Prince Edward County, ON; freaks and forgeries; and printing on stamps, Robertson is a member of the Royal Philatelic Society of Canada, British North America Philatelic Society, Postal History Society of Canada, American Philatelic Society and Canadian Philatelic Society of Great Britain.

Major John Conrad - Various

The Canadian Army Officer who has graduated with honours in English and Philosophy as well as the Royal Military College in Kingston, ON, has collected stamps since he was in grade school.

Conrad collects Canadian stamps, postal history and, not surprisingly, military postal history. He is a member of the Canadian Forces Philatelic Society. Janet Hetherington - Just For Kids

The freelance writer, editor and artist has a Bachelor of Journalism from Carlton University. She worked for 11 years as Editor and Production Manager of Canada Post's philatelic publications (Collections of Canada, Canada's Stamp Details, and Heritage Post). She also wrote Perf and Gauge comic book and was the codesigner of the 1995 Super Heroes stamp Official First Day Cover.

The writer/artist of Eternally Yours: Illustrated Stories of Eternal Romance. collects comic book stamps. Hetherington won a 1999 Aurora Award for Excellence in science fiction and fantasy. She is a member of Friends of Lulu (comics), Horror Writers Association and Ottawa Science Fiction Society.

Venita Jay - Stamps and Stories

As a doctor, Jay's collecting specialty is medical. With an MD and FRCPC, the physician is also an artist and writer.

She is a member of the Medical Arts Association and has won awards in the field of medicine as well as art.

Neighbor

Chad Neighbor - Commonwealth Communiqué and various

Neighbor has a bachelor of science degree in journalism from the University of Maryland. He is a copy editor at The Scotsman newspaper in Edinburgh and freelance writer.

A collector since the age of 12, Neighbor now collects used joined se-tenants, ex-Czechoslovakia and ex-USSR as well as sled-dog thematics - a sport he enjoys.

He is a member of major philatelic journalism organizations such as the Writers Unit 30, American Philatelic Society. He is the British Isles secretary of the International Society of Worldwide Stamp Collectors, former president of the Edinburgh Philatelic Society and committee member of the Scottish Philatelic Society.

Michael O. Nowlan - Philatelic Bookshelf and various

Nowlan has been collecting stamps since he was 10-years-old and now focuses on Canada (especially Scott No. 210), Royal Canadian Mounted Police and Beethoven.

Having earned a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Education and Masters Degree in Education, Nowlan is now a retired teacher, freelance writer and consultant. He has extensive philatelic writing credits in Canada, the United States and Great Britain. He is a speaker, researcher, educational consultant and has published 16 books including poetry, children's stories and anthologies for schools.

Nowlan earned his certificate as a philatelic literature judge in 1995 and has judged shows in Canada and the United States. Nowlan is a member of the Royal Philatelic Society of Canada, American Philatelic Society, Writers Unit 30. He has also won several Silver medals for philatelic writing at national and international levels.

Bill Pekonen - Pacific Dispatch

Working as a business consultant and accountant, Pekonen has been a collector for many years.

A collector of worldwide official covers, Pekonen has written research articles for every major publication in North America over the last 30 years. He has made discoveries of numerous stamp errors and scarce postal stationary.

Pekonen is a member of the Royal Philatelic Society of Canada, British North America Philatelic Society and CPS-GB.

Shaman

Tony Shaman - Various

Like many collectors and CSN writers, Shaman's interest in stamps began when he was a youth. He now collects stamps of Canada, postmarks and postal history. His collections have earned him a Silver at CAPEX and Gold medals at StampFest.

He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Economics at Wilfrid Laurier University and is a Fellow of the Life Management Institute. The freelance journalist is a member of the Royal Philatelic Society of Canada, British North American Philatelic Society, Postal History Society of Canada, Grand River Valley Philatelic Association and area stamp clubs.

Arlene Sullivan - Under Cover

Sullivan started collecting for a second time after her oldest child was born and she needed a portable and affordable hobby. It is a pastime that has progressed to the point where she exhibits at the regional and national levels. Her collections include Canadian, German, covers of the world, postal history of New Westminster, and mechanized mail in Canada. She is a member of the Royal Philatelic Society of Canada, British North America Philatelic Society, and German Philatelic Society.

Sullivan works as a mom and writer who considers the computer a regular appliance in her home that she uses extensively for writing and researching late at night.
